Animal Protection Trial: Border signs declare Austria as an Unconstitutional State

International human rights activists change Austrian border signs to protest the ongoing animal protection trial

Taking advantage of Austria being bordered by so many different countries, creative human rights activists from various neighbouring countries set about making changes to border signs to protest at Austria's misuse of laws to curb and silence NGO work.

The protesters added the term 'constitutional state' to the Austrian signs with a symbolic red line through it making it clear to media and people crossing the border that this trial severely contravenes the Austrian constitution. Essentially, the new signs mimicked end-of-town signs in Austria. Hence their message to people driving into Austria was that by doing so they leave the area of a constitutional state.
